You might be lucky enough to shake hands or get a selfie with your idole, but to get an interview with the biggest world music artist just two days before he is nominated as the World Pioneer winner at the 2022 Songlines Music Awards that was not an easy task. Even the Swedish radio has not succed to get in touch with him. Youssou himself is very calm and nice person but difficult to approch or to get contact with. It´s his agent and all the staff around to take care of him thats the reason why its nearly impossible to get in touch with him.
An article about Youssou ndour in a Swedish newspaper from 1997 with his photo next to mine caught the attention of his team while I` was behind the backstage before his concert. This enabled and helped me to approach the greatest african artist ever who I´ followed to his well-guarded dressing room when he returned from the to relate the story of the article in the newspaper, which he insisted on keeping, while answering me a few brief questions.
