Karim Branis is the leader of the mythique Algerian Kabyle rock band of the 70´s LES ABRANIS. I´did start a relation with Karim for few years ago hoping to book him to Sweden for few concerts. Karim put me in touch with his manager whom I contacted two years before the Covid19. I´did got to know from the manager that from the original band is still only Karim the leader left. The rest of the band are young and new. I was of course disappointed. It became less interesting for me and for the music lovers who know about the original band to listen for something else. After all, I was going to book the band anyway and when I started looking for my planning, I was told that Karim the leader made his last concert with the band for few months ago.
I´visited him last autumn in his town TIZI OUZOU. He invited me to his house and we talk few hours about his carrer, his point of view about the music of today and the political situation about the Amazigh people.
